Incoming Typhoon Intensifies - Pagasa

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said today that the new typhoon that is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) continous to gain strength.

Pagasa said the typhoon, which will be named "Jose" when it enters the PAR, is already packing winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) at its center and carries wind of about 160 kph.

The typhoon is also moving at a speed of 10 kph but Pagasa said that if the direction of the typhoon will not change, it will not landfall in the Philippines.

However, the typhoon will cause heavy rains because it will strengthen and intensify the habagat that is expected to affec Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon.

The typhoon is expected to hit the waters within the PAR Sunday night and will only hit landfall in Southern Japan.
